Keyblades

Kingdom Key, 2017.

Cherry, poplar, and leather cord.

I’m a huge nerd and can’t escape the desire to create work based off nerdy things! In 2017 I decided to make a life-seized “Kingdom Key” keyblade from the Kingdom Hearts video game series. This project tested my skills as I had never attempted combining joinery methods with turned projects. I also had to solve the main problem of producing a 38 inch product on a lathe with a very limited distance between centers.

Wheel of Fate, 2019.

Black walnut, poplar, mixed media.

In 2019 I started the “Wheel of Fate” keyblade commissioned by a close friend. This keyblade required the use of unfamiliar methods and materials and required me to get out of my comfort zone.
